Switch off… and relax
Whatever your reason for planning a break, it’s important to relax and enjoy every second. So whether you’re staying for just one night or a few, we are perfectly located so that you can fill your days with as little, or as much activity as you can cope with. With easy access to the city and the Southern coastline, you have so much choice at your fingertips.
History & Gardens
We are genuinely lucky to have such a wonderful array of history surrounding us. Order a picnic to go and head off to explore, bringing history to life at some of the most beautiful Homes and Castles.
We are blessed with outstanding places of interest, including Waverley Abbey, Polesden Lacey, Loseley Park, Petworth House, and Hampton Court Palace. All within 15 – 40 minutes drive from us.
If visiting beautiful gardens are on your To-Do list, you won’t be disappointed; with a wide variety on your doorstep, you can choose from RHS Wisley, Claremont Landscape Garden, Winkworth Arboretum, West Green House, and Painshill Park and so much more.
Distilleries, Vineyards & Breweries
Obviously, it’s a given that we are passionate about all things food and drink, therefore it’s only expected that we are keen to highlight and shout about our greatest home-grown, talented producers, who are Surrey and Hampshire neighbours.
If it’s a special occasion, we highly recommend a full day of tasting, in style, with a Grape & Grain Tour. Of course, should the whole day not be an option, there’s a whole host of distilleries, breweries, and vineyards that you can pre-book onto for an enjoyable tour and tasting. You really have the holy grail of producers to choose from.
If you’re a big Gin fan, you absolutely will be in your element; from Silent Pool, Wessex Distillery, and The Surrey Copper Distillery, to Hogmoor Distillery and Distillers of Surrey, who are all located within 30 minutes of our pub inn. For those happy to travel a little further, you can enjoy an experience with Bombay Sapphire, Winchester Distillery, and Gorilla Spirits too, all within 55 minutes. All of these greats, each offer a myriad of experiences and tours to purchase.
For sparkling wine, you won’t be disappointed! Not only do we have the award-winning Albury Organic Vineyard and Denbies Wine Estate, but also Greyfriars, High Clandon, and Chilworth Manor vineyards.
We are passionate about our beers and ale, especially given our close bond with Tilford Brewery, who brew many of our seasonal, award-winning beers, especially for our pubs. Should you be looking for a day out to quaff the golden nectar, then it goes without saying that Hogsback Brewery, Surrey Hills Brewery, and Dorking Brewery are simply a must!
Fun Days Out
When the sun shines, there’s nothing better than heading out early and making the very best of a full day of activity and entertainment. We love having guests, young and old, coming to stay overnight and also take great pride in recommending places for them to visit; there’s plenty to do, come rain or shine.
When the sun is splaying its rays, there are plenty of great places to visit. We have theme parks aplenty, all less than 45 minutes drive – enjoy Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland, and Thorpe Park. Not a thrill-seeker? Enjoy a day of wildlife instead at nearby Bird World or the British Wildlife Centre. If you have young kids, it’s definitely worth a trip to Bockett’s Farm Park or Godstone Farm. If you fancy a paddle at the beach, pack your swimmers and sun lotion and head to the South coast beaches, or stick closer to home and enjoy the man-made Frensham Great Pond with its very own beach!
Alternatively, enjoy a bike tour of the Surrey Hills (including bike hire), water sports at The Shac, rock climbing at Craggy Island, have fun at an outdoor aqua park, and so much more.
If you happen to wake up to a day of grey skies and rain, it absolutely won’t spoil your stay. There’s a whole array of virtual experiences and indoor activities within 20 – 45 minutes drive, such as Escape Rooms, an Airhop trampoline park or iFly Indoor Skydiving and Chimera VR, to more calming options including a trip to the Cinema, Pottery Painting, a Spa Day at Beaverbrook Hotel or Afternoon Tea at the historic, Great Fosters Hotel.
